Haunted Mirror

Once upon a time in a small village outside of Portland Oregon. There lived a young woman who had just purchased a house in the country and this house was an antique of a mansion. It stood 3 stories tall and had 8 rooms including a master bathroom and a hot tub and swimming pool. The house was sold for a cheap 500,000 and she was going to move in and bring a cat with her. She guessed the house was from around the 1880's and had only two generations of owners. But something mysterious about it, the house was rumored to be magical. Surrounded by a forest with a giant driveway it housed a barn and a lot of staircases. She was going live all alone and had to prepare for a long winter. She decided to stock up on groceries and other supplies. She left for the house early Monday morning and moved in.

After inspecting the house Mary had strange thoughts about it. As ancient and mysterious as it was people had told her it was light blue with yellow trim and it was but the condition needed work. The cats name was Rosy and this cute little kitten was black with fur thick like a wool rug and had a cross eyed problem. Giggling at the cat funny looks Mary strode into her home and unloaded her stuff from the trailer. It took until nighttime to get setup, but she didn't have a lot of stuff. The cat was purring next to the fireplace later that evening so she went and threw a few logs into the fireplace. After that she then unpacked her favorite mirror that had been given to her after her grandfather had passed away. This mirror was tall and silver with diamonds around the surface. Perfect spot she thought for the mirror, for now anyway, is the master bedroom on the second floor, which is centered in the middle of the house. She thought she would be alone but the doorbell rang early in the evening and she looked outside but couldn't see anyone. A young girl comes strolling out from behind a bush and says "Welcome to the neighborhood!"

The girl said name is Angela and she is 13 years old, she lives next door with her parents. She said the house has been deserted for years. The family later gave Mary some cooked ham and they had dinner. Later Mary went to fall asleep and was so thankful for her luck with purchasing the mansion, what a great piece of property! Rosy woke Mary up later that evening and was growling at something, Mary said "whats the big deal kitty?" The cat wandered off and Mary went and looked in the mirror, posing for a minute. Then she noticed something, there was a candle burning in the reflection on the dresser and she turned around surprised but the candle wasn't there! she looked again and then got very scared, she ran downstairs and was about to leave when she noticed a package on the ground, tearing it to pieces there was a letter in it.

The letter read that her new home was built on an ancient cemetery of Indians and is very magical and mysterious, and the letter was dated in 1920. She then found a newspaper article and it said that a man who had owned the house had achieved great wealth in the area. She sighed and ran upstairs to grab her purse and was about to leave forever, then she saw there was a 1000 dollars where the candle had been on the dresser, but it was real. She laughed for a long time that god must love her . She never spoke about that first night in years to come, but one night when it was raining really hard and their was a storm, she found another 1000 dollars at the same spot.

Being quite large house of nearly of a dozen rooms with basement and an attic. It was years after the incident and in the attic she kept a candle, the candle was from Europe and it burned softly at night. She read books in there to pass the time and with a small mattress covered in blankets, she stayed warm at night and feel asleep always too tired to walk downstairs.

One cold October early morning something happened, she had just put the cat food out when she found a comic book laying on the ground and it was dated from the 1920s. It was an old Disney comic book and was definitely worth money. The current year was 2002. Mary also found another letter she opened it and found that it spoke of a secret chamber in her house that was built at the construction then sealed, and it was supposed to have a ghost that lived in it. She then searched the house for days until finding a hidden panel in the attic and it opened into the chamber of ghosts. It was an ancient style bathroom with antiques everywhere, Mary was surprised at her luck!

She moved her favorite mirror into the bathroom since it had none. Around midnight maybe a week later she crept into the bathroom around midnight to take a look at herself. Within a few seconds there appeared a young girl dressed in old fashioned clothing and she was frowning, she pointed at Mary and then dropped something on the floor! It was a journal from maybe the late 18th century. The journal discussed  to the young girls family and that they had lost her in a swimming accident. The ancient diary was indeed worth money, but it went on Marys shelf forever. she would never sell it! the young girl was named Anne and they were European.

Being very worried about the house now, it had been over a year since the last incident. Mary thought about selling the house and laughed, who would buy it now? people had heard her stories but one night another incident occurred, with Anne. The mirror was again lit up around 1 am and Anne was in it, a candle in her hand, in the mirror she was petting rosy and rosy lay in front of the mirror purring , this startled Mary but she understood that her cat is a very special cat indeed and always slept with rosy next to her whenever she was near the chamber.

Mary had never in her life been so scared as tonight, she had barely made her coffee. but something really evil had happened. It had been nearly 5 years since the incident and it was Halloween. But her pumpkin that she had carved for a long time  had disappeared with a knife laying in its place! This was scary enough, but she was afraid that she was going to have to face the house's evil. rosy lay in a bed made for her and was getting older now , the cat barely had enough strength to survive, and Mary loved her cat dearly and couldn't stand to see her in pain.

Mary thought she could sneak out into the renovated guest house for a night and escape certain disaster. it was the night of Halloween of course and everything was going to go wrong now! Knowing her house is haunted she was on the alert. Rosy lay in her bed all alone in the house as Mary hid beneath the covers of her guest bedroom , everything seemed in order so far, the phone had rang it was Angela the neighbor trying to see if she had any candy or treats she could give. Mary had met with her briefly and given her her home-made present, it was a nice basket of goodies and Angela thanked her.

Midnight came and rain started again, and the wind was whipping through the property and the moaning of the wood and screaming of the fence was loud. The lights came on in the main house but she dare not go over there and look. Fearful the cat was dead she grabbed her bible and waited in the lobby. the lights went out at exactly 1:15 am. damn she thought time is running out for the cat, but she was going to leave soon forever. She moved out the next day and as she was driving away the house and it caught fire somehow and the fire burned it to the ground.

Late one night in the motel a few days later she was recovering from the shock but the rain came again and she looked into the mirror to see if it was an omen, nothing was in the reflection. Her cell phone rang and no one was there. She ran downstairs and sighed, the man at the counter was gone, being in her late 50s she still could run fast and went outside to keep safe but got hit in the head from behind, she went unconscious and blacked out for hours, when she woke up she left town fast. the storm was over, but the town was deserted and none ever knew what happened! It was safe in Portland and she realized one day they all had died! since she had sent out no warning she felt guilty, but the police told her not to worry it must have been a town hoax. Knowing better she broke the mirror one night and the pieces cut her hand and she died! the cat laid down next to her and passed on as well...
